Ryan Myers grew up fishing and diving in South Florida. Ten years ago, he learned to combine his love for fishing and snorkeling into spearfishing. He then made spearfishing his fulltime career about three years ago. Spearfishing has since taken him around the world, introducing him to new people, cultures and experiences. Ryan competes in both spearfishing and freediving events on the national and international stages. In the 2014-2016 competition circuit he earned the title of #1 ranked competitive spear fisherman in the United States. His competitive freedive training has led him to become one of the deepest hunters in the world. Since joining the Hecs Elite Team in 2015, Ryan has travelled to the Bahamas, Mexico, New Zealand, Turks and Caicos, Greece, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar and Hawaii. He has also competed in two major competitions including the 2016 US National Spearfishing Championship and the 2016 CMAS World Spearfishing Championship. There he speared and landed a grouper at 55 meters, placing 12th out of 75 of the best divers from around the world. Ryan consistently ranks among the top divers at international events with a personal best finish of 4th place at the 2015 Pan-American Championship in Mexico. Ryan will again represent Team USA as its #1 diver in the 2017 Pan-American Championship in Argentina. In addition to his five IUSA World Records, Ryan is a freedive instructor and a US coast guard licensed captain.
